On Tuesday, November 5, 2013, voters in the Commonwealth of Virginia will go to the polls to elect a new Governor. Terry McAuliffe(D) and Ken Cuccinelli(R) are the two main candidates. I'm supporting the Democrat Terry McAuliffe, as though I really need to state. Virginia is a complex battleground state, I campaigned there in the Presidential election in 2012, but despite its complexity, Terry McAuliffe should win this election by at least seven percentage points. Virginia is complex for it has the Washington suburbs of Arlington, Alexandria and most of Fairfax County, which are or ought to be progressive minded folks connected to the Federal Government in some form or another; and then there are places like  southwestern Carroll County, where President Obama got outscored by a larger than 2-1 margin in the 2012 Presidential race. But any set backs in this rural county are easily countered in places like Arlington and Fairfax where President Obama crushed Romney in 2012.

In 2012, in Virginia some 3,794,342 votes were casted in the Presidential election. In 2009, the last Virginia governor election, some 1,983,601 votes were casted for the Democratic and Republican candidates. That race was won by now embattled and legally troubled Republican.

But this is 2013, Terry McAuliffe has offered himself to Virginians as a level-headed woman- respecting progressive candidate. On the other hand, Cuccinelli determines to be a woman's rights restricting candidate with hardcore right wing tendencies; thus, the choice should be very clear to Virginians -  Terry McAuliffe should be the next governor of the State of Virginia. But politics is politics; elections are contests which are never over until the final vote has been recorded, counted and certified. Godspeed Terry McAuliffe.

This past weekend, Terry McAuliffe(D) for Governor, Virginia had volunteers on the ground campaigning while the Republicans did flyovers of the State. Who is the candidate of the people?

This Saturday, May 18th, 2013, Terry McAuliffe(D) candidate for Governor in Virginia, heats up the 2013 race with a State-wide Day of Action. With staging grounds in Newport News and Alexandria, Mr. McAuliffe is taking his message of jobs, economic stability, education and transportation directly to the voters. Undeterred by his opponent's attempt to shadow the election on social issues such as making abortions illegal, Mr. McAuliffe is going directly to the voters with his agenda of growing innovative businesses across the State to grow jobs.
